Today is the 66th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi death camp. In 2005, the United Nations General Assembly designated this day as Interna...tional Holocaust Remembrance Day, an annual day of commemoration to honor all the victims of the Nazi regime.

Estelle Laughlin, a Holocaust survivor, once beautifully explained, "Memory is what shapes us. It is what teaches us. We must understand it is where our redemption is." I come from a country where holocaust education has been mandated in every school since 1991. Not only that, but the British government sponsors two students a year from every high school in England, thousands altogether, to visit Auschwitz-Birkenau through the Holocaust Educational Trust's "Lessons from Auschwitz" Project. Only on coming to America did I realize how unusual this was.

SPECIAL OLYMPICS

President Obama made an insensitive remark on the Leno Show last night about the Special Olympics. Many who live or work with "Special Needs" kids were shocked and hurt by what he said was a "slip of the tongue" by their President.

March 21st was World Down Syndrome Day 2009. Let's use this time to educate ourselves about how loving and kind children with "Special Needs" are. They have a way of wrapping themselves around our hearts. You applaud each achievement they make, knowing how they had to struggle to accomplish things like sitting, walking, and talking that come so easily to "normal" children. Their smiles and hugs light up our hearts and lives. I feel sorry for those who have never known their unconditional love.

Through the weeks my disappointment has turned to fear. What is he doing to our country? What will we have left when he leaves-if he leaves. I believe that if he could he would take out term limits and be President forever. With the Dems dominating in the house and some 3
Republicans willing to move over for ? (we don't know what they were promised) bills are guaranteed passage. I live in Illinois and it looks as though we will not have an election for a new Senator-looks like Burris will somehow get to stay so they have their Dem vote. I know they are afraid that a Republican might be elected. I really want my Congressman Mark Kirk to be elected for that spot.
Anyway after the speech last night and passage of the pork loaded budget today-
I've given up!! Senator Byrd has objected that Obama is usurping the power of the legislative branch with his czars. he is right and I hope this will lead to something.
Tomorrow they may vote on the Union bill-the bills just keep coming and the Dems are like "the silence of the lambs." Maybe he replaced them with clones programmed to do his bidding. Hmmm I think I found the answer.

After the election, I cried as I saw the results. I knew from the research that I had done, just who Obama was. I had hopes as I listened to his speeches that perhaps
the election process had somehow changed him-perhaps when he found out the true state of the terrorists and how much danger we are in-he understood. My hope left this week with his "Stimulus Package", his flawed staff choices, and his partisan
speeches. This isn't just time for prayer now-it is time to work toward a better result in 2010 and 2012. I hope that the republicans will utilize the "new tech"
as the Dems did so we can sweep those self-serving Congressmen and Woman out of office. The best place to begin is with Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid.

Kitty Love

I saw a woman holding her kitty in New Orleans just before she was to be evacuated. She had to give her baby to the SPCA, who will care for it until they are reunited. She clung to her cat -tears running down her face-fearing that this might be the last time she would see her little kitty. I thought the rules said that animals were going to be allowed to stay with their families. I think that there is no chip in these pets and it is so easy to lose one. Also they were stacked in crates in the sun-did they have water? Were they afraid? Did they have their necessary shots so that they couldn't spread disease? I am really worried about these poor pets -they won't understand.

Are any of you as impatient as I am? The computer teaches you patience.
Just signing up for something may have to be done over and over-It's taken me weeks to sign up ,for example for "My Space" Just getting a user ID is a challenge-then getting my passwords to match-and finally that
box with mixed up letters and numbers that have to be identified. I want to scream-I'm not a bot-put in something I can see. Jeese-can't they all just be one case? Last night I was making a slideshow on PhotoBucket and lost it 3 times when I went to find music or pictures from a different file.
What is it about a computer that makes us keep doing things again? The layout I got at Pyzam is another example. I kept getting the code and putting it on-only to find "It's a boy!" I've never even had a boy-
Better yet-someone gave me a code to design my page at

and I put it on. I wrote a little message to thank her,
and went to see her other pages. What a shock to see my background of Bijou and Pooh on her page. Her baby is at the Rainbow Bridge and I feel so bad about the background which says Happy Birthday. I keep checking but so far it is still on there. Speaking of dogster-I pay for the space-which is ad free in the middle but surrounded by ads which seem to wonder onto my page. Now the million dollar question-how could my background end up on her page? (I thought I lost this when I went to get the URL for Bijou's page-but found it in one of my tabs. All my other beloved dogs are there on their pages from the Rainbow Bridge.

Two of my granddaughters have special needs and my heart goes out to all parents who bravely deal with this on a daily basis. They must give 500% to their children on a daily basis. My heart cries for all of you. Every child IS "Special" and must be loved and cared for as my granddaughters are. If I could give a medal it would be to my daughters, Stacey and Robyn, and their husbands, Larry and Steve, who I call sons -in every way. Their daughters have grown up knowing unconditional love from them. I wish that could be said for all parents.

Nilaya's death is the most senseless waste I have ever known. She died in an accident and it is so heartbreaking.
